Sam Hewson

Sam has spent more than a decade working in the financial services sector, beginning his career through the Barclays Technology Apprenticeship Programme after completing his A Levels. Since then, he has held a variety of roles within the Chief Security Office, spanning technology risk and compliance, cyber security assurance, and security product and programme delivery.

Throughout his career, Sam has led and contributed on a number of key initiatives that have helped organisations strengthen their security and operational resilience. This includes the enterprise rollout of Microsoft Defender, the delivery of Backup and Restore vaulting solutions, embedding Resilience by Design into organisational change processes, and running executive-level crisis management exercises tailored to severe but plausible scenarios.

At Beyond Blue, Sam specialises in supporting clients with Operational Resilience uplift, executive crisis exercising, and the integration of resilience principles into change and transformation programmes. His approach combines strategic foresight with practical implementation to help organisations prepare for disruption in a complex risk landscape.

Beyond his civilian career, Sam is an active reservist in the British Army, serving with the Royal Corps of Signals, where he specialises in Communication Infrastructure and Electronic Warfare. He also has a growing interest in the practical application of Artificial Intelligence within the cyber and resilience domains and has completed several training programmes and qualifications in this space.
